What is a Print Spooler Service and How to Fix it in Windows 7?

 What is Print Spooling?

Spooling is a term that refers to the organization of maintaining the print job requests line sent by computer to the printers. It is a part of the operating system that holds the communication between the printer and the computer.

Why Do I need Print Spooling Services?

Print Spooling is necessary because the printers struggle to handle all the jobs sent to them, especially when they are connected to many networks like an office where a lot of many people be printing at a once.

And Print spooler is a program that is automatically built in the Windows operating system and is fairly easy to connect to. Think of it like a queue instructor managing the line and instructing them who will go first and print from the slot.

The Problems that Occur With a Spool:

The Printer Setup life is spool if it stops the printing will stop in its tracks and will refuse to print any more documents for you. If there is an issue the system will start showing you error messages which can be for a variety of reasons:

  1. Print Jobs gets stuck in a queue and prevent the other documents from getting printed
  2. Documents getting corrupt and the spooler is unable to properly translate it to the device.
  3. The printer crashing due to spooling service failure.

Try with the basics first- Meaning you should try restarting the printer, sometimes network issues and many print jobs at a time can cause a server to crash.

Changing Spooler Properties: This will work for any version of  Windows installed. Go in the Contol Panel window select Administrative Tools, Click on Services, and then click Print Spooler. There you will see two options to start and to restart the service, Stop and wait for 10 seconds then press start again.

Or you can also change the settings in the print spooler properties window. Click Print Spooler, which will open the Print Spooler Properties window. This window will contain all of the important options for correctly adjusting your print spooler and troubleshooting issues that are occurring in your printers.

By default, General Tab is selected in the menu. Click the drop-down list to the right of Startup type, then set it to Automatic. This will ensure that your print spooler starts as soon as you turn on your systems, Once you have chosen the Automatic option in the window, select Apply at the bottom of the window to save your changes, then click OK. Or you can contact the Printer support number for free guidance and help needed for your spooling problems.
